The biggest bicycle trail race is back! NUVALI brings Dirt Weekend on its third year with Dirt Weekend 2011. last year's event saw action from over 500 participants and this year's event happening on November 26 and 27 looks to be bigger and better. It's time once again to put the pedal to the metal!
In line with their vision of sustainability, NUVALI brings the biggest bicycle trail race back on its third year to encourage the public to embrace nature and a healthier and more sustainable way of living through biking. NUVALI's 1,750 hectare eco-community gets back on track as it brings Dirt Weekend 2011, the most exciting biking competition south of the Metro.
As mentioned, this year's event is promised to be bigger and better with an estimated number of 2,500 participants and events such as the cross country event, 24-hour race, four cross, and mountain bike orienteering. The cross country event sees cyclists testing their endurance in NUVALI's mountain bike trails, riding through single tracks, fire roads, and paved paths. In the 24 hour race, cyclists brace themselves for strategy and endurance, not to mention a lot of pedalling. Cyclists push their way through NUVALI's bike course as the sun sets, rises, and sets again in this exciting race. Aiding the cyclists are fireflies that light up the trail race at night along with a bonfire at base camp. In the four cross competition, cyclists fly, flip, zip and zing their way through jumps and berms as they pedal their way to the finish line. Four riders take on NUVALI's four-cross track and race head-to-head towards the finish line. In mountain bike orienteering, cyclists navigate through trails and complete the control points, while choosing their routes wisely.
Given NUVALI's lush green surroundings, wide-open spaces and not to mention fresh air, NUVALI is the perfect venue for such an event, much to the delight of health buffs. A haven sanctuary for healthy and balanced living, NUVALI has always been an advocate of healthy living with their vision of Evoliving, encouraging its residents to get on their bikes and cycle their way through fitness. This, they promote, through suitable facilities for sports and outdoor recreation.
